Data Exporter

  • order_lines.csv

  • order_tax_lines.csv

GoBD

Data Exporter

Shopify helps merchants to be compliant with tax regulations, but each merchant's situation is unique. It's important to consult with local legal professionals to determine if you comply with all local laws and regulations. Shopify doesn't submit tax records for you, but we provide a way to export the information in a format for you to submit your tax records on your own. How you submit your tax records depends on your local or national tax authority.

With the Data Exporter app you can export your store data, such as orders, products, and users, when that data is requested by tax authorities. The Data Exporter app compiles data specific to each of the following regulations:

  • Electronic Sales Suppression Tools (ESST) in Australia

  • Article 88 in France

  • GoBD in Germany

Electronic Sales Suppression Tools (ESST)

Businesses with tax obligations in Australia must keep records of all of their transactions, including records created by electronic Point of Sale (POS) systems. It's an offence to manipulate these records using an electronic sales suppression tool (ESST), or by under reporting income by any other means. The Data Exporter app helps ensure that you comply with applicable tax regulations by allowing you to export complete transaction data made through the Shopify Point of Sale App.

For more information about ESST regulations, refer to Ban on electronic sales suppression tools.

To help you comply with ESST regulations, you can use the Data Exporter app to download the following data files from your store:

  • order_lines.csv

  • orders.csv

  • products.csv

  • users.csv

Article 88

As of January 1, 2018, the French government has mandated that all merchants selling in France and subject to VAT have a certified system of records. This law is intended to help prevent tax fraud.

In order to be compliant with Article 88 in France, you need to download and complete this Loi Anti-Fraude TVA document and keep it in your records.

To help you comply with Article 88, you can use the Data Exporter app to download the following data files from your store:

  • order_lines.csv

  • order_tax_lines.csv

  • orders.csv

  • products.csv

  • tender_transactions.csv

  • users.csv

GoBD

In Germany, the GoBD is a set of principles for the proper management and storage of books, records and documents in electronic form, and for data access. The GoBD regulates all the requirements that German tax authorities place on bookkeeping and tax-relevant data, whether electronically or in paper form. The GoBD also sets out the guidelines for how German tax authorities can access electronic data during tax audits. The GoBD helps you to learn what data the tax office needs you to keep and outlines what the auditor is allowed to do as part of a tax audit.

The GoBD has been in effect since January 1, 2015. It replaces the previously effective "Principles on data access and verifiability of digital documents" (GDPdU) and the "Principles of proper computerized accounting systems" (GoBS).

To help you comply with the GoBD, you can use the Data Exporter app to download the following data files from your store:

  • gobd.dtd

  • order_lines.csv

  • orders.csv

  • products.csv
