Customer Privacy app
With Shopify's Customer Privacy app, you can collect tracking consent from online store visitors to comply with regulations such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can use the Customer Privacy app to help you accomplish the following tasks:
Build trust with customers by adding a banner that lets visitors choose if they want to accept cookies or not.
Use templates that have privacy requirements for different regions pre-filled.
Easily select and edit the privacy message that you want published on your storefront.
The Customer Privacy app is a free app that you can add from the Shopify app store.
Deactivation of the Limit the third-party sale of your California customers' data setting
If you've enabled the Limit the third-party sale of your California customers' data option in the Customer privacy section of your Online Store Preferences, then you'll need to update your online store to the latest version by November 1, 2021. You can find the instructions in your Online Store Preferences.
Starting November 1, 2021, you can't use older versions of the Limit the third-party sale of your California customers' data option because it automatically blocks all information sharing of California customers. Instead, you need to give online store visitors located in California the option to opt out of having their information shared.
If you're using the Limit the third-party sale of your California customers' data option, then install the Customer Privacy app to help you meet CCPA requirements.
