Same Day handling time FAQ

1. How do I enable Same Day handling time for my products?

 

If you are eligible to set Same Day handling time, you will be able to do so on your current and new Shipping Templates. This option is only applicable to Domestic Standard and Expedited Delivery options. To enable or disable Same Day Handling Time, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Sign in to Seller Central and go to Shipping Settings.
  2. You can create a new shipping template or edit an existing shipping template.
  3. Look for the section for Handling Time settings in the shipping template (only visible to eligible Sellers). By default, Same Day handling time will be disabled. Check the box to enable Same Day handling time.
  4. If editing an existing shipping template, ensure that all SKUs associated with the template can be shipped the same day. If this is a newly created shipping template, assign SKUs that can be shipped the same day to this Shipping Template. Click here to learn more on how to assign SKUs to shipping templates.

 

Note: You can follow the same process to disable Same Day handling time for all the assigned SKUs. Once you disable the setting from the shipping template, the promised shipping time of the products will be calculated based on the Handling Time value which is set for the SKU on the Manage Inventory page.

 

2. I am only able to ship the same day for orders received prior to a specific time. What happens to orders received after this time?

 

Under General Shipping Settings, you will be able to view the current order cut-off time for Standard and Expedited Delivery. The order cut-off time only applies to products enabled for Same Day Handling Time. All orders received prior to the cut-off time will be expected to be shipped the same day. If an order is received after the cut-off time, you will be expected to ship by the next business day.

By default, the cut-off time for Standard and Expedited Delivery is set to 11 am local time (as per the time zone of your default shipping address). You may edit this setting to accommodate your fulfilment operations. Click here to learn more on how to configure order cut-off times.

 

3. What can I do if I don’t want to provide Same Day Handling Time?

 

No problem! Make sure you have disabled the Same Day handling time option from your shipping templates. Disabling this will cause the handling time to be calculated based on the value that you have set for the SKU on the Manage Inventory page.

Note: Even if Same Day handling time for Standard and Expedited Shipping has been disabled, you are still required to ship the order same day for Premium Shipping Options (Same Day, Next Day, and Two Day Delivery).

 

4. What is the difference between Same Day Handling Time and Same Day Delivery?

Same Day Delivery is a Premium Shipping option available to sellers who meet high delivery standards. Same Day Delivery requires the order to be delivered to the Customer on the same day it was ordered (subject to order cut-off times). In contrast, Same Day handling time applies only to Domestic Standard and Expedited Delivery options. Orders are only required to be picked, packed, and shipped the same day (subject to order cut-off times) when Same Day handling time is enabled.

5. Does this feature also apply to Prime orders?

By default, Prime orders with Standard Delivery are expected to be shipped the next day after receiving an order. You will have the option to enable Same Day handling time for a Prime enabled shipping template. When enabled, you will be required to ship products the same day for Standard Shipping to non-Prime members.

6. Is Same Day Handling Time applicable to Scheduled Delivery?

 

No, at this time Same Day handling Ttme is not applicable for Scheduled Delivery. You may have a Same Day handling time for Arranged Delivery options
