Registering products to your brand

Registering your products to your Brand Registry-approved brand ensures that you access all of the benefits of Brand Registry available on Seller Central, including A+ Content, Amazon Stores, and Sponsored Brands (formerly Headline Search Ads), as well as providing increased control over product information.


How do I register products to my brand?

After enrolling your brand, you can register products to your brand by providing the following product information on your product listing:

  • Brand name: the brand name is case sensitive and must match the brand name on the Brand Registry application exactly

  • Categorization: ensure that the appropriate category (item_type_keyword) for your products is selected

  • Product ID: a unique UPC that is registered with GS1.org

If your products don't have a UPC, you can apply for a GTIN Exemption.

If you need to register multiple products to your brand, we suggest using an inventory file. A Full Update is recommended to ensure your products are registered to your brand.

Note: Updating listings in bulk using an inventory file is only available for Professional sellers.

How do I update incorrect product information?

You can resolve most issues regarding incorrect product information on your own. Always include the product ID, categorization, and the case-sensitive brand name to ensure your listings are registered to your brand. For attribute and category changes, we suggest using an inventory file.

Certain attributes are frozen when a listing is created, meaning that you can't edit them. If the attribute you are trying to update is frozen, you will need to delete your listing, wait 24 hours, and then re-create it with the correct information.

Attributes that are frozen when a listing is created include the following:

  • Brand

  • UPC/EAN/JAN

  • Catalog Number

  • Model Number

  • Part Number

  • Size

  • Color


Product information can take up to 24 hours to update on the detail page. If your updates have not processed via inventory file after 24 hours, errors could be preventing your updates from appearing. Once the inventory file has been uploaded, the system will check for errors. Download the Processing Report to review any errors and make the necessary corrections. You can also use Check My File to identify common errors and automatically build variations prior to uploading your file.
