Order fulfillment settings

The Order Fulfillment Settings page allows you to define the operating days, delivery days, and order cut-off times for your products. You will need to review and edit your Order Fulfillment Settings for both Prime and non-Prime products. The settings defined on this page will influence the Delivery Promise shown to customers, as well as the date you are expected to ship your orders.

The Order Fulfillment Settings feature has two sections: General Fulfillment Settings and Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation.

General Fulfillment Settings

General Fulfillment Settings are used by Amazon to determine the delivery promise when your delivery regions (also known as shipping regions) are manually configured by you. A delivery promise based on carrier delivery capabilities is only available on Shipping Region Automation.

Note: Settings configured under General Fulfillment Settings will be applied to all shipping options that are not enabled with Shipping Region Automation. This includes Standard and Expedited shipping options. Use General Fulfillment Settings to configure order cut-off times and operating days for your products wherever you have not enabled Shipping Region Automation.

Fulfillment settings for Shipping Region Automation

Fulfillment settings for Shipping Region Automation are used by Amazon to determine the delivery promise when your delivery regions (also known as shipping regions) are configured based on your shipping service preferences. If you have enabled Shipping Region Automation on your shipping templates, you will be able to customize your fulfillment settings by day of the week and for each of your preferred shipping services. Amazon will use these settings to calculate the Expected Ship Date and Promise Delivery Date for products enabled with Shipping Region Automation.

Note: As Shipping Region Automation is currently only available for Premium Shipping Options, these settings will not apply to Standard and Expedited Shipping. Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation will only be visible if at least one or more of your shipping templates have been enabled with Shipping Region Automation.

Order cut-off times, operating days, and delivery days

You can view and edit your operating days, order cut-off times, and delivery days under Order Fulfillment Settings. These can be configured for both the General Fulfillment Settings and Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation.

Operating Days

Monday through Friday are considered mandatory operating days. You may turn on Saturday and Sunday as optional operating days. When turned on, these days will be considered towards the calculation of the Estimated Ship Date, that is, you will be required to ship out orders on Saturday and Sunday.

To enable weekends as an operating day for your account:

  1. In Seller Central, go to Settings and click Shipping Settings
  2. Under General Shipping Settings, identify the Order Fulfillment Settings section and click Edit
  3. Under General Fulfillment Settings, look for Weekend Operations and check the box for Saturday and/or Sunday operations.
  4. Save.
Note: Turning on Saturday and/or Sunday as an operational day under General Fulfillment Settings will impact all products and all ship options where Shipping Region Automation is not enabled.

To enable weekends as an operating day only for specific shipping services and only for Prime offers:

  1. In Seller Central, go to Settings and click Shipping Settings.
  2. Under General Shipping Settings, identify Order Fulfillment Settings and click Edit.
  3. Navigate to Weekend Operations under Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation.
  4. Click on the Enable Weekend Operations button.
  5. Identify the shipping services you want to turn on for the weekend.
  6. Choose the Last Pick-up time and Order cut-off time for the Shipping Service operating on Saturday. Choose ‘No pick-up’ if a Shipping Service does not pick up over the weekend.
  7. Select your order fulfillment preference for the weekend. You can choose to apply the setting to only Prime offers or extend the setting to all of your offers. If extended to all offers, it will impact both Prime and non-Prime offers for which Shipping Region Automation is activated.
  8. Review all changes under Order Fulfillment Settings and save your changes.
Note:
  • Enabling weekend operations is optional. This does not mean that the order will need to be delivered on Saturday.
  • If weekend operations are turned on, these days will be counted towards your Expected Ship Date. You can use the Weekend Order Fulfillment Preference to limit this to only Prime offers.

Carrier pick-up times and order cut-off times

Order cut-off times are used to determine the Estimated Ship Date for products. Orders received before your set order cut-off time will have a ship date of the current day, while orders after the order cut-off time are expected to ship the next business day.

For shipping options that are not enabled with Shipping Region Automation, the order cut-off time defined under General Fulfillment Settings is used. You can set the order cut-off time for Standard, Expedited, and Premium Shipping options based on your business needs. Order cut-off time for Standard and Expedited Shipping is only applicable when Same Day handling time is enabled on a Shipping Template.

Note: The default order cut-off time for all shipping options where you are required to ship the same day is 2:00 p.m. local time. The order cut-off time you set will be remain the same for all operating days. This also applies to Standard and Expedited Shipping when Same Day Handling Time is enabled. The only exception to this is Same-Day Delivery where an early cut-off time is accepted.

In order to modify order cut-off times for General Fulfillment Settings:

  1. On Seller Central, go to Settings and click Shipping Settings.
  2. Under General Shipping Settings dashboard, identify the OrderFulfillment Settings section.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Under General Shipping Settings, look for Order Cut-off Times.
  5. Set the desired order cut-off time for your different shipping options.
  6. Save your settings and review on the General Shipping Settings dashboard.

For shipping options that are enabled with Shipping Region Automation, the order cut-off times defined under Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation are used. You may set pick-up times and order cut-off times for each day of the week for the shipping services you use (including weekends). The cut-off time can be at minimum 30 minutes and at maximum 3 hours before the carrier pick-up time.

The default pick-up time for carriers in the U.S. is 5:00 p.m. local time for weekdays. At this time, carrier pick-up times in the U.S. cannot be set later than 6:00 p.m. (thereby limiting the latest order cut-off time to 5:30 p.m.). For weekends, you may set an order cut-off time as early as 10.30 a.m. for each shipping service.

Note: The order cut-off times under Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation must be equal to or later than the cut-off time defined under General Fulfillment Settings.

To modify order cut-off times for Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation:

  1. In Seller Central go to Settings and click Shipping Settings.
  2. Under General Shipping Settings, identify the Order Fulfillment Settings section and click Edit
  3. Navigate to Fulfillment Settings for Shipping Region Automation.
  4. Set your carrier pick-up time and order cut-off time for each shipping service.
  5. Select the “Set by days” option if the pick-up time and order cut-off time for the shipping services vary by different days of the week. If not, select the “Set by week” option to have the same pick-up and cut-off time for the whole week.
  6. If you have enabled Saturday and/or Sunday as an operating day, set your carrier pick-up times and order cut-off times for these days.
  7. Click save and review your selection on the General Shipping Settings dashboard.
Tip: Setting a later cut-off time allows you to show the customer a faster delivery promise for a longer period of time. You can also set different order cut-off times by the day of the week by enabling the Shipping Region Automation on your shipping template.
Important:
  1. If the shipping templates are enabled with Shipping Region Automation with multiple shipping locations, Amazon automatically adjusts the time zone based on the time zone of each shipping location.
  2. Give yourself enough time to pick, pack, and ship your orders. The last pick-up time for each shipping service will impact the availability of the shipping service when you proceed to purchase a shipping label on Buy Shipping Services. You may not see your preferred shipping services on Buy Shipping if the label purchase time is less than an hour from the last carrier pick-up time defined by you.

Delivery days

Monday through Friday are considered mandatory delivery days. When using Shipping Region Automation, customers will also be shown delivery promises for Saturday or Sunday when your preferred Shipping Services can deliver on these days. We will not show a delivery promise for the weekend if:

  1. The shipping services used to define your delivery regions do not support weekend delivery to the customer's location, or
  2. The customer is not willing to receive orders over the weekend.
Note: Enabling shipping services that can deliver over the weekend will allow you to show the customer a faster delivery date.
